Since becoming Virginia's first independent trust company, in January of 1994, Middleburg Trust Company has experienced tremendous growth in assets under management and accountability. In 1998, we joined The Middleburg Bank to form Independent Community Bankshares (renamed Middleburg Financial Corporation, effective May 15, 2002). Today, Middleburg Trust’s headquarters in downtown Richmond at 821 East Main Street serves the Richmond and Williamsburg regions and our branch office in Middleburg, Virginia, serves the northern part of the Commonwealth. Through our holding company, we have also established an affiliation with Middleburg Investment Advisors, Inc. of Alexandria, Virginia. MIA specializes in fixed income portfolio management for total return. Currently, the combined assets under management and accountability of Middleburg Trust Company and Middleburg Investment Advisors are in excess of $1 billion.
